Faze was once a winner of the 'Golden Gloves Boxing Championship'. This ex-boxer uses real live instruments like a guitar. He was signed to Grapetree Records In 1995 and released his debut album "Just Tryin Ta Stay Up" on Grapetree Records in 1996.

He began playing guitar at the age of 15 to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Ernie Isley and Prince. The record was a hit in the underground christian rap market It also led to a endorsment deal with Fender Guitars.
